His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel in Goldthwaite, Texas. Interment will follow at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Star, Texas. Visitation will be held at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

LeRoy "Pete" Harper, 88, of Star Texas, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite, Texas with interment at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Star, Texas.
Pete was born December 4,1924, the son of Presley O'Keith and Martha Edna Beshears Harper. He graduated from Star High School in 1942. On January 18,1943 he and Ruby Dell McCasland eloped. They were happily married and at home in Mills County for over 70 years.
They farmed and ranched all of their lives in the Star community except for nine years when he and his brother Sammie operated the Harper Feed Store in Goldthwaite, Texas Pete was a life long member of the Star Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In August of 2012, he received his 65-year membership award from Goldthwaite Masonic Lodge No. 694.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Forest Harper and wife, Iris, Tommie Harper, Sammie Harper and wife, Dessie; sister, Doris Hasting and husband, Tom; sister-in-law, Nell Harper.
Pete is survived by his wife, Ruby Dell; son, Karry and wife, Sheryll Harper of Star; daughter, Marsha and husband, Lynn Elliott of College Station; grandchildren, Shane Elliott and wife, Tammy of Houston; Keith Harper and wife, Georgia of Star, Sonya Scott and husband, Tommy of Star; great-grandchildren, Logan Harper, Thomas Scott, Luke Harper, Reagan Elliott, Mason Scott, Riley Elliott and Levi Harper.
Other survivors include his brothers, J.D. Harper and wife, Marie of Dallas and Billy Harper of San Angelo; and sister-in-law, Zelma Harper of Munday, Texas.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillview Manor, Solarius Hospice, and special caregiver Jovita Perales, our special angel, for their care and compassion.
