RICHMOND, Ind. – Dorothy Chapman, age 90, of Richmond, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at her home surrounded by her children. Dorothy was born January 24, 1923, in St. Helens, Kentucky, to Walker and Eva Butler Collins. She retired from the Lee County Kentucky Health Department and worked for Heritage House when she moved to Richmond in 1972. Dorothy was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her five children, Wayne (Glenna) Chapman of Cambridge City, Indiana, Sheila (Albert) Frost of Andersonville, Tennessee, and Connie (Robert) Kenworthy, Dennis (Heike) Chapman, and Kimberly (Dennis) Flanigan, all of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Hazelett, Scott (Robin) Chapman, Darren (Tricia) Chapman, Jeremy Frost, Kevin (Lora) Kenworthy, Kurtis Flanigan, and Kelly Flanigan; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin, Kaleb, Elijah, Mackenzie, Eva, Abrielle, and Ariana Kenworthy, Zach, Alec, Ethan, and Katelyn Hazelett, and Kurtis Kayden Flanigan; sister, Geneva Newton of Richmond; sister-in-law, Vera Banas of Seminole, Florida; special nieces and nephews; and special friend and care-giver, Ava Warran. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Wallace Chapman; daughter, Karen Chapman; two sisters, Reba McQueen and Beulah Plummer; and three brothers, James Richard Collins, Carl Collins, and Vinson Collins. Visitation for Dorothy Chapman will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. H. Lynn Seagraves officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 794 South Round Barn Road, Richmond, IN 47374 or Reid Hospital Foundation for the Hospice Program, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374.
