McCALL, Gerald D.

Gerald was born to Harlan H. and Bethel I. McCall in Marshall, Oklahoma on December 14, 1931 and died August 26, 2013 after struggling with Leiomyosarcoma cancer.

After graduating Marysville Union High School in 1950, he served as a Gunner's Mate in the U.S. Navy on the USS Lake Champlain during the Korean War, He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Smith in March 1953; they established their home in West Sacramento raising three children, Donald, Lorna and Alan.

After leaving the service. Gerald entered apprenticeship in sheet metal in 1954 where over the course of 38 years he rose to the highest level as shop foreman gaining the respect and admiration for his integrity and skills in his craft. He applied his meticulous skills in sheet metal to the fine art of wood working. specifically scroll working. During this time Gerald became a member of Scepter Masonic Lodge no. 808 serving as Master twice and receiving the Hiram Award. In 2000, Gerald and Bonnie moved to Blue Lake Springs, Arnold, where he became very active in Ophir Bear Mountain Masonic Lodge #33, Arnold SIR #152. Ebbetts Pass Elves and Masonic Gold Panners RV Group Chapter #154. Gerald was a man of few words, loved a good joke, took pride in his family and let his actions speak for his devotion to family and community.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan McCall of Chico, Bethel McCall Parker of Yuba City and his brother, John Vance McCall Of Vallejo, California. He is survived by his wife. Bonnie McCall of Arnold, his children Don McCall of Saunders Town, R.L. Lorna McCall of Murphys and Alan McCall of Napa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Courtney and Hailey McCall. Jenna and Kailey Seim, Claire and Joseph McCall. He also leaves his loving sister, Irene Townsend of Oroville, Ca. He has been a cherished gentle soul to his extended family, Masonic family, neighbors and communities.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 5th at 2pm, at Snowflakes Lodge, Blue Lake Springs, Arnold. A second service and interment will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Friday, September 6th at 1:30pm.
