James A. Cowell 61 of Oregon, OH passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2006 in Montpelier Hospital. Jim was born in Toledo on August 15, 1944 to Marvin and Mildred (Myers) Cowell. Mr. Cowell was employed as a certified welder for the BP Oil Toledo Refinery for 36 years. He was a member of USWA Local #1-346. Jim was a strong supporter of youth sports and coached football and baseball at numerous Eastside grade schools and he was especially proud of coaching his sons at Larchmont School. A loyal Ohio State Buckeye fan he also enjoyed camping and golfing where he was the organizer of the "Cowell Golf Outings" every year. Jim's true love was his wife and family and he truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his faithful dog "Littlebit". Surviving are his loving wife, Pam; sons, James A. Jr. (Michelle) and Steven (Patricia) Cowell, James (Anna) Kendziora and Lori (Fred) Hull; mother, Mildred; brothers, Norm, Marvin Jr "Zip" and Larry Cowell; sisters, Bev Wamer, Judy Sutter, Diane Flanagan and Linda Bollinger and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Marv who passed away in January of this year. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in New Harvest Christian Church, 3540 Seaman Road on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Jim's memory be made to either Special Olympics or the Red Cross.
