Marvin was employed with Sun Oil for 37-1/2 years before retiring. He also sold Christmas trees at Starr and Dearborn, coached football for 7 years at Garfield, 14 years at Raymer and enjoyed fishing, umpiring softball, and baseball. He also drove ambulance for Worth Clegg.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Homer, Howard, Bob and Art.
Survivors include his children, Beverly (Larry) Wamer, Judy (William) Sutter, Jim (Pam) Cowell, Diane (Patrick) Flanagann, Norman (Ok) Cowell, Linda (Raymond) Bollinger, Marvin Cowell Jr. and Larry Cowell. Also surviving is a brother, William (Rose) Cowell and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and former wife, Mildred Cowell.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-9 p.m. at the Hoeflinger - Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon. Services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Willow Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to Raymond Bollinger and Marvin's special grandchildren, Eddie, Mary, Angie and Bill Jr.
