MIDLAND
Hugh McVeigh an aged resident died at his home here Friday morning at twelve o'clock. Mr. McVeigh was a native of Ireland, coming here when a young man. He is survived by the following sons and daughters: Rev. William McVeigh of Pylesville Md.; Mrs. George Sharpe of Ellingham, Ill.; Mrs. Sarah Cummings of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Henry McVeigh of Turtle Creek, Pa.; Mrs. Richard Cramer, John and Julia McVeigh of Midland, MD. From the O'Rourke Diary—Mar. 4, 1921—
Hugh McVeigh, of Midland, MD, Allegany County, Maryland died on a Friday. He was buried on Monday March 7 from St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 9 am. (He was the son of Henry McVeigh and wife, Jane Johnson.) Born in Augh-Lee, County Antrim, Ireland, he came to America in 1866. He married Catherine 'Kate' Cavanaugh. Ceremony performed by Father Morgan, in the old stone house at top of a hill overlooking Knapp's Meadow on Jan. 13, 1867.
