THELMA MOORE
Oct. 10, 1910 - Oct . 13, 1990

*Thelma Dial was born October 10, 1910 in Mossy Springs, Union Co., TN to John F and Mary Ann 'Polly' Hill Dial as one of three daughters and seven sons. On March 12, 1931 she married Cleotis Lawson in Union Co. The Norris Dam project of TVA removed her along with her entire family from the area by 1935. She and Cleotis moved to Mehaffey Road in Claxton of Anderson Co., TN. Here they lived and struggled until the depression era lack of work brought them to Monroe, Michigan where so many others from Tennessee had migrated for employment. By December 18, 1942 the marriage had failed. Thelma had met Walter Moore whose first marriage had ended in July. The day after her marriage to Cleotis had officially ended she was married to Walter Moore. Thelma died in 1990. She never had children in either marriage. She now rests next to her second husband in the Woodland Cemetery in Monroe. (bio by Leo York a Dial descendant #47707923)
