Shortly after His service in the Army Pete married Mabel Louise Parker (who refused to be called by Mabel. Only Louise). From this union, they had two sons (Pete III and Terry) and a daughter (Alyson). While the kids were young Pete worked for the postal service and Louise worked at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, MO. Pete and Louise took several vacations to visit family in Texas and other places as well.
In Pete's retirement years at the age of 70, after raising his own children, and being a HERO to this country, Pete and Lousie adopted 4 of their grandchildren. Pete was a HERO yet again. Pete always taught us to stand up for what's right and to take care of one another. Pete liked to watch sports on TV, argue about politics, talk about the "good ol' days", and Orange juice. He especially loved his El Camino, and Siberian husky "Cody". He loved all of his Grandchildren and always wanted the best for all of them. One of the grandchildren he raised ended up following in Pete's footsteps by enlisting in the US Army and being assigned to the same Infantry Division, and serving overseas.
Pete passed away at 83 years of age at his home in Gladstone, MO.
