Alverta Mae Ness Deller, 79, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday morning after a lengthy illness at Ephrata Manor, where she had lived since 1994.
Mrs. Deller and her husband had owned Deller's 5 and 10 Store, New Holland.
She retired from the former Gress Floor Covering Service, New Holland. In retirement, she worked at Deller's Custom Frame Shop, New Holland.
She previously worked at the former Armel Store, Blue Ball.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New Holland.
She was a 1937 graduate of Dallastown High School.
Born in York Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Lydia Mae Eberly Ness.
Her husband, John H. Deller, died in 1992.
Surviving are nine daughters, Barbara A., wife of Gerald V. Gaynor of San Dimas, Calif., Patricia M., wife of John I. McKim of McSherrystown, Jean D., wife of Charles L. Byers Jr. of New Holland, Carolyn E. Deller-Royer of New Jersey, Catherine D. Cirone and Lois A., wife of Jesse S. Lehman, both of Lancaster, Susan D., wife of Gerald Fox of Reinholds, Anita D., wife of Michael Riccio of Glenmoore, and Judith Deller Phipps of Ephrata.
Also surviving are six sons, John V., husband of Karen Johnson Deller of Springfield, Va., Thomas E., husband of Angela Purcell Deller of Providence, R.I., Edward J., husband of Shirley Rohrer Deller of Lancaster, Jeffrey L. of Waldorf, Md., Kenneth P. of Brownstown and H. Anthony, husband of Laurie Wheeler Deller of North Smithfield, R.I.; 44 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Walter E., husband of Gerri Ness of Red Lion, and Glenn E. Ness of Frederick, Md.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Leroy Ness.
