Carl Upp, 93, of Scottsbluff, died May 16, 2006 at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home at Scottsbluff. At his request, cremation was held. His graveside service was May 19 at Fairview Cemetery at Scottsbluff. Carl was born March 29, 1913 at Lebanon, Kan., the son of John Peter and Nancy Ellen (Cox) Upp. He was raised and educated at Lebanon and Shenandoah, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Ruby A. Carpenter, Aug. 23, 1939 at Shenandoah. Carl served with the Army Air Force during World War II. After his discharge, they lived in numerous locations before moving to Minatare in 1955. He was a retired zone manager for the Ben Franklin stores. After his retirement, he and Ruby were avid campers and traveled extensively. He was also very active in the First United Methodist Church at Scottsbluff prior to moving to the Western Nebraska Veterans Home. Carl was a member of the Church and Robert W. Furnas Lodge #265 AF & AM. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, and three sisters.
