Richard D. Chorlins, U.S. Air Force, 602nd Special Operations Squadron, 56th Special Operation Wing, 7th Air Force.

Rick was born in University City, Missouri, and was a 1967 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He was reported missing on January 11, 1970 while on an armed reconnaissance mission over Laos when the A-1H aircraft he was piloting was struck by hostile fire and crashed into the side of a mountain. 1st Lieutenant Chorlins was promoted to Captain posthumously. His remains were recovered and brought to the US in 2003, identification was made in early 2015, and he was laid to rest with full military honors on April 14, 2015.

Sadly, this was not the first wartime loss for the family. Richard's mother Ruth lost her brother, Harley Hammerman in World War II, just two months before his nephew Richard was born.
