James Robert Flynn
James Robert Flynn, of Bath NY, went to his rest with his Lord, on August 26, 2013. He was born April 29, 1936, the youngest and only son of Robbina Spence Flynn and Thomas Anthony Flynn.
Jim attended St. Patrick's parochial school, and graduated from Corning Free Academy. As a young man he worked at the Baron Steuben Hotel, and after graduation, he volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon returning from service, he worked at Ingersoll Rand for 20 years. In 1972, he went to Corning Incorporated where he completed 40 yrs service.
Jim enjoyed keeping up with many local and national sports. He recently worked part time as Sexton at The Bath Presbyterian Church; enjoying time spent meeting the interim Pastor, and congregation. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee with "the boys" at Wegmans in Corning, and after exercise at the VA in Bath.
Jim married Maureen Kelly of Addison, September 29, 1960. They were married for almost 51 years. He is survived by his wife, two daughters: Michelle Coots (James), daughter Colleen Flynn; and grandson Trevor Coots, all of Bath. Sister Patricia Quigley, of Corning, sister in law Gwen Dart of Montour Falls, sister in law Jackie Kelly of Michigan, and several Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Travis(Les), Kathleen Miller(Loren), Beverly Dundas(William), sister in law Kathleen O'Brian, and brother in law Edward Kelly.
At Jim's request, there will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Howard Cemetery, Howard NY at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.
