Known as the "Mother of Olvera Street." Managing director of El Pueblo de Los Angeles (Olvera Street). Sterling was the driving force behind the preservation and restoration of Olvera Street, and its most ardent champion. She lived in Chavez Ravine until the area was cleared for construction of Dodger Stadium in the 1950's, after which she moved to #14 Olvera Street. She lived there for the rest of her life.
