Myra Agnes Close, called Mynie, was the daughter of Lewis Gile Close [1836-1891], a government employee, who was born in NY and Alice Howard Foster Close [1854-1913], who was born in Wincester, VA. The couple was married June 6, 1875, in Washington, DC. In addition to Myra Agnes, the couple had four sons: Lewis Gile Close, Jr. [1876-1879], Walter Hill Close [1879-1940]; Lewis Raymond [1881-1955] and Bernard Emil Close [1883-?].

Myra’s paternal grandparents were Slawter Close [1796-1859] and Diana Titus Close [1807-1881], both of Fulton, County, NY.

Myra Agnes Close married William Meade Fairall, a machinist, [1858-1915] on June 10, 1899, in Baltimore, MD. The couple had two sons: Meade Close Fairall [1902-1983] born in Washington, DC, and Lewis Raymond Fairall [1906-1991] born in Pensacola, FL.

After her husband William’s death in 1915, Myra was employed by the US Treasury Department’s Bureau of Printing and Engraving in Washington, DC until her retirement.

Myra Agnes Close Fairall died June 11, 1944, in Washington, DC. She was survived by her two devoted sons and four loving grandchildren: Meade Close Fairall, Jr., Stewart William Fairall, James Richard Fairall, and Susan Rae Fairall.
