I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). After a courageous two-year journey with cancer, Robert Wesley Brumfield peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior, on August 25, 2013, at 8:11am surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born February 22, 1937, in Circleville, OH, to Marvine E. and Edwin L. Brumfield. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Leon E. and Hurschel D. Brumfield. He was a 1956 graduate of Pickaway High School.

On March 16, 1957, he married Joyce C. Rice, and to that blessed union were born a son, of Gray, TN; and daughter, Gahanna, OH; the delight of his life were his three grandchildren; the "apple of his eye" were his great-grandchildren; also his canine companion "Precious."

Robert was a pipefitter employed at the Chilpaco Division of the Mead Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 1997. He was happiest in the kitchen preparing bountiful meals for his loved ones, friends and neighbors and church family. He was also known as the "candy man" as he created various goodies to pass out at holidays.

Robert had been a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and had served in the ministry of deacon, trustee, usher, choir member and "kitchen duty." He will be sorely missed by all, but he left us with so many beautiful memories.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the team at the James Cancer Hospital, Calvary Baptist Church and special neighbors Steve and Deb Mathey and Fred and Pam Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday, August 28, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from Noon until 1:30 at Calvary Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of HALLER FUNERAL HOME.

Memorial contributions may be made to either: Calvary Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2486 Anderson Station Rd., Chillicothe, OH, 45601; or the Ross Co. Humane Society, 2308A Lick Run Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
