George Davis was the son of Cyrus Davis and Sarah Ann Willet. He married Nancy Mannon in 1857.

George was a resident of Henry County, Iowa, when he enlisted on 29 Dec 1863 at the age of 27 years. He mustered in Co K 4th Iowa Cavalry on 21 Jan 1864. Promoted Farrier 1 Jul 1864. Mustered out 8 Aug 1865 at Atlanta, Georgia.

George was from Mercer County, Missouri. He married Nancy Mannon, the daughter of John and Ahinoam (Hill) Mannon, of Mercer County Illinois.

George W. Davis and Nancy Mannon were married on December 25, 1856 in Unioville, Missouri. They lived most of their married lives in Illinois and Iowa.

George W. Davis was a soldier in the Civil War in Company "E", 4th Iowa Calvary. He served for three years. George gave a Confederate Civil War Saber to Roy Mannon.

George's occupation was farmer. He died March 1, 1905. Records do not indicate where he was buried so I'm guessing somewhere in Seattle Washington, but there are many cemeteries there so I wouldn't have a clue which one?
