Mr. Schattl was born December 15, 1913, at Mattoon, Wisconsin. He was married August 29, 1936 to Cecelia Kowalski, who preceded him in death September 2, 1964. He had been employed at the Kowalski Diary in Wausau from 1954 to 1964, when he moved to Dorchester, where he owned and operated the Block Hotel. The past five years he had been employed at Heremetic Refrigeration in Colby.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Jr., Baltimore, Maryland, John of Waukesha; two daughters, Patricia Schattl, Dorchester, and Mrs. Roy (Shirley) Deveraux of Colby; two grandchildren; five brothers; three sisters, and his mother, Mrs. Frank Schattl, Mattoon.
