Former professional football (soccer) player. He was a goalkeeper who played for Corinthians between 1950 and 1960, and then was hired by the legendary Pele's club Santos, where won the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup in 1962 and 1963. It was also the goalkeeper of Brazil National Team, with whom he won the FIFA World Championships in Sweden 1968 and Chile in 1962. He is considered one of the best goalkeepers of Brazilian football history.


Cause of death: heart attack after suffering a stroke.
