Pennsylvania Chronicle (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), August 6, 1770, P. 113:
On the 30th Ult. died at Merion, in this County, Mr. Jonathan Jones, (one of the People called Quakers) in the 91st Yeaan Jones r of his Age, Ninety of which he spent in this Province, having come to this Country from Wales when a sucking infant. His Conduct thro' Life was such he deservedly gained him the Esteem of all Ranks and Degrees of People to whom he was known.---On the 1st Instant his Remains were decently interred in Friends Burying Ground at Merion, attended by the largest Concourse of People both from this City and the adjacent Country, that perhaps ever assembled in this Province on Such an Occasion, who showed the greatest Marks of Respect to that worthy ANCIENT BRITON. He has left a numerous and respectable Offspring.
