Man Is Killed, 20 Calved Destroyed in Auto-Truck Crash
Schofield, WIs. - (AP) - One man was killed and 20 calves destroyed early today in an automobile-truck collision five miles east of here.
The dead man is Donald Yonker, 18, of Schofield, who was killed instantly when the car in which he was riding collided with the truck carrying 153 calves from St. Paul to Green Bay.
Marathon county officers said the car struck the truck on the left side, causing the gasoline tank to explode and setting fire to the truck which overturned in a ditch. Truck driver Rupert Brockway, 28, of Morton, Minn., freed the calves but about 30 were burned and 20 others were injured and had to be shot by the officers.
