JESSE MAVITY was born in 1791 @ Franklin Co., VA to:
"William Mavity, Sr." (b 11-8-1747 @ County Cavan, Ireland) & "Mary Jones" (b 1755). They married in 1775 in Franklin Co., VA.

Jesse was alive on 6-30-1870 when the Census recorded him living with his wife & married son Andrew J. & his wife & their then 4 children. Jesse was listed as a Farmer while his son was listed as a Blacksmith. It is thought that he died during the following year.

"William, Sr. & Mary Mavity" lived in Franklin Co., VA until 1824 when they sold most of their 495-acre-farm except for a small parcel to be used as a "family cemetery". Their children were grown when they moved to Indiana. Some of the 10 Children went with them to Indiana while others did not. Mary died in 1825 with William, Sr. dying in 1832, both dying in Indiana; they are buried on their farm near Rexville, Ripley Co., IN where some of their children are also buried.

*** William Mavity, Sr. was in the Henry Co., VA Militia & a Sgt. Major in The 2nd. Battalion, VA, 4th. Regiment (which was under Colonel Waller or Walker) during The Revolutionary War. He was @ the siege & surrender of Yorktown. ***

"Jesse Mavity" Married "Susannah Riggs" (b 1801 @ Franklin Co., VA). Susannah's Parents were ‘Townley Riggs & Charity Guilliams Riggs'; she was the 2nd. of 8 children).

"Jesse Mavity & Susannah Riggs" married on 3-1-1819 @ Franklin Co., VA.

They had 5 CHILDREN @ Franklin Co., VA; but they moved to "Meigs Co., TN by 1840" where the Children grew-up.

Their 5 Children:

~ Nancy Mavity (b 1823) (m: James W. Grice in 1842)

Jesse Mavity was listed on The Census of 1840 of Meigs Co., TN (with his Daughter Susannah being 12-years-of-age along-with his other 4 children & wife Susannah).

"Jesse Mavity" died in 1871 while his wife, "Susannah Riggs Mavity", died in 1870. They are buried @ Meigs Co., TN in The Lewis Cemetery. Their son, Andrew Jackson Mavity, & his wife are also buried there.
