Ft. Blackmore, VA - Eula Katherine Taylor Pierson, 94, born April 4, 1919 went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and joined her husband, Elmer, on August 22, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Benjamin Franklin and Alice Florence Taylor in New Market, Tennessee where she lived until age 10 at which time she went to live with her Uncle Robert and Aunt Emily Starnes at Slant, Virginia. "Aunt Em" made her home with Katherine and family until her death at age 97.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Alice Taylor; husband, Elmer Pierson; sisters, Emma Starnes, Nannie Smith, Elizabeth Starnes, Laura Starnes, and Delta Taylor; brothers, Hobart, Willie, Cecil, and Vernard Taylor.

Surviving are her children, Gray and Judith Pierson, Linda and Larry Jennings, Janice and Colin Green; grandchildren, Lisa and Mike Kincer, Kevin and Paula Green, Kristi and Terry Gillenwater, Lori and Kenny Dingus, Michelle and John Bush, Reggie and Wendy Green, James and Jan Pierson; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Gabe Calton, Emily and Josh Egan, Jeremiah and Amy Gillenwater, Kelsey, Olivia, Chase and Evan Green, Connor Pierson great-great-grandsons; Levi and Zeke Calton, Noah Gillenwater, Jayden Egan; special sisters-in-law, Myrtle Carter and Anna Carter; and special nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home and at the residence. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Billy Byrd, Rev. Jackie Strickler and Dr. Todd Cassel officiating. Music will be provided by Belle Byrd. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 12 noon at Pierson Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore with special music by Ed Jennings. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, nephews and Johnny Stewart will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Cassel for his extraordinary care, as well as Hospice staff, Allie Depew, Johnny and Jeannette Stewart, Rev. Jackie Strickler, Betty Hamilton, Helen Babb, Shirley Pierson, Shelby Ervin, D'Lynn Lawson, Mrs. Pierson's church family at Ft. Blackmore United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years, and special friends and neighbors.
