Minnie L. Befort Urban, 94, of Great Bend, died Aug. 12 at Cherry Village Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 9, 1911, at Antonino, the daughter of Alexander A. and Johanna (Engel) Befort.

She married Vincent A. Urban on Jan. 20, 1930, in Wallace. He died Sept. 12, 1960.

A longtime resident of Great Bend, coming from Claflin, La Crosse, Wichita and Hays, she owned a restaurant in Wichita. She worked for the former Russell Clinic and was a dietitian at the former St. Rose Hospital and the Central Kansas Medical Center, all of Great Bend. She was a child caretaker in La Crosse and a homemaker. Mrs. Urban was a member of the Catholic community of Great Bend, St. Patrick Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society and the Eagles Lodge. She was a past president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in La Crosse.

Survivors include two sisters, Martina Neville of Sun City West, Ariz., and Henrietta Befort of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Alois Befort, Albert Befort, Ignatius Befort, Victor Befort and Celestine Befort, who died at infancy; and one son, Leroy M. Urban.

Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. today and Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hays. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
