Fredolin Knobel, Sr. Dec. 7, 1856 – July 1930

Funeral services for Fred Knobel, aged 73, whose death occurred in the Methodist hospital at Madison late yesterday afternoon following a serious operation to which he submitted on Saturday morning, will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the home and at 2 o'clock at the Reformed church. Rev. A. Muehlmeier will officiate.

Mr. Knobel had been a patient at the hospital for about three weeks, having first gone there for observation. It is understood that the operation revealed a more serious ailment than was at first anticipated, and his condition following the ordeal was not overly encouraging. Yesterday morning he suffered a sinking spell and local relatives were summoned to his bedside. From that time on he failed gradually until the end.
Mr. Knobel was a native of Switzerland and was a mere child when he came to this countrywith his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casper Knobel. Later Mr. Knobel spent a number of years in the vicinity of New Glarus and in 1883, came to Monticello where he was engaged in business with J. C. Steinman, Sr., for a number of years.
