He united with the Christian Church in his youth and remained faithful. He was an honest, upright citizen, always interested in any cause that was for the upbuilding of his community.
He was married twice, his first wife having been Miss Willie Birsch of Buckingham County, who died in 1918. On July 21, 1928, he was united in marriage with Miss Ressie Kanost, daughter of the late John R. and Martha Fairburn Kanost, of Mt. Solon.
His wife survives, with three sons by his first marriage, James Monroe Falls of Waynesboro; Layman and Laythan Falls of Dillwyn.
Other surviving relatives are two brothers, A. C. Falls of Vesuvius; Chas. Falls, Roseland; two sisters, Mrs. U. S. Campbell, Lyndhurst, and Miss Margaret E. Falls of Lynchburg, also a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from Sherando M. E. Church Saturday afternoon, June 24th at 2 o'clock by the pastor the Rev. E. R. Thayer, assisted by the Rev. Jacob F. Replogle, pastor of Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren. Hymns rendered by the choir were, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "I've Anchored My Soul in the Haven of Rest," and "Rock of Ages."
Active pallbearers were E. J. Hunt, A. C. Carter, G. F. Coiner, H. B. Fauber, Clark Loving and S. N. Matheny; honorary nephews, Morta Campbell, Casper Campbell, Willard Falls, Elwood Falls, J. Everette Campbell, Monague Campbell and Hawthorne Falls.
Burial took place in the cemetery at Mt. Olivet U. B. Church near Mt. Solon.
