When Charlotte Ball Woodbury died in April 1878 at the age of 94, she was one of Midland's oldest residents, born November 4, 1773 in Franklin County Massachusetts the daughter of an American Revolutionary War Soldier.

Charlotte moved to the Village of Midland in the early 1860's to live with her son George Fordyce Ball, who operated a hotel and farm. The Ball family, and especially Charlotte left a long-lasting impact on the history of Midland County.

One person in particular who should be familiar to Midland residents, Grace A. (Ball) Dow who is the Great-Granddaughter of Charlotte Ball Woodbury.
