Sarah S. Conkil was born in 1811 in Pennsylvania. No information is known about her parents and it's likely the proper spelling of her name would be "Conkle". There are two different Conkle families living in Mohican, Wayne County, OH in the 1820 census. Of the two Conkle families, only George Conkle has a female (age 0-10) living with him. Note that Sarah and David and their two children were living in Mohican, Wayne County, OH in 1830. David and Sarah were married in about 1827, likely in Wayne County. Note also that Mohican, Wayne County, OH eventually was included in Ashland County, OH when Ashland County was created.

Sarah and David had 11 children: Lavina Grubaugh Cooper (1827-~1858), William Grubaugh (24 May 1828-29 Sep 1900), Katherine Ann Grubaugh Doran (21 Oct 1831-19 Dec 1888), Andrew Jackson Grubaugh (2 Nov 1833-6 Jul 1911), George Riley Grubaugh (4 Aug 1837-25 May 1924), Mary Jane Grubaugh Hayward (30 Dec 1839-25 Mar 1906), Isaiah Grubaugh (4 Dec 1841-14 May 1887), David Cullen "Cull" Grubaugh (3 Nov 1844-16 Aug 1924), John Anderson Grubaugh (1 Aug 1848-7 Jul 1924), Sarah Lucinda Grubaugh Stokes (27 Feb 1850-5 Oct 1929), and Martha Grubaugh (1852-??).

In the 1876 Agricultural census of Christian County, MO, both David and Sarah are listed (likely living with John Anderson Grubaugh and his family), and listed with David and Sarah is Charles Grubaugh (0-10 years). Charles is likely the son of Martha Grubaugh out of wedlock, and Martha is missing from the 1876 census. It would appear that Martha died sometime between 1870 and 1876 and that Charles was living with his grandparents.

David died in 1877, one year after the Agricultural census and Sarah died 9 years later. She never remarried.
