Younger took his name from his mother, Susannah Younger (1761-1833) and father John McCausland (1765-1820). His father was born in Dublin & died in Randolph, NC. His mother was born in North Carolina. Her family came from Glasgow, Scotland. He was the oldest of 9 children. He is the only ancestor in our family to be descended from Scotch-Irish.

Younger married Lydia Garner in 1813 in Randolph, NC. Younger & Lydia lived in North Carolina. In 1831 the family of 9 moved to Bond, IL. Lydia died in childbirth in 1835 in Illinois with her last child, also named Lydia. After her death, Younger became a Mormon on June 1, 1840.

He & his family, which included some married children, moved to Nauvoo to help build the Temple. They all became Mormons. His endowment date was Feb 7, 1846 at Nauvoo Temple. After being run out in 1846, they continued on to Carterville Settlement, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He continued on the Mormon wagon train in 1850 w/ his daughter Lydia departing Kanesville, Iowa. His son Jesse would come in April in another unknown wagon train.

Lydia Sr. & Younger were the parents of 11 children. Only 5 lived to adulthood.
Younger was sealed to Lydia Sr. on July 18, 1852 at Salt Lake.

Younger's occupation was a Laborer in 1850 and cooper (makes barrels) in 1860.
The last years of his life he was crippled from rheumatism & an invalid. His faithful daughter Lydia cared for him.
