John David Bemis, Sr., age 83, of Linton, passed away at 1:55 P.M. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Glenburn Home in Linton. He was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Coalmont, the son of Floyd & Rachel Rebecca "Beck" (Burger) Bemis.

He retired from the local General Electric Company where he worked as a plater. He attended the Linton Assembly of God Church & was a member of American Legion Post #22. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. (Corbin) Bemis, to whom he was married July 10, 1952, a daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Kristler, a son, David (Kim) Bemis, three sisters, Letitia Rehmel, Rachel Bemis, & Mary Bemis, five grandchildren, Jamie Markle, Jennifer Veach, Shaun Bemis, Laura Newby, & Ross Bemis, & eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, & siblings, Emery Bemis, Ruby Bemis, Alvie Bemis, & Cora Bell Bemis.

A funeral service will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 A.M. Mon., Aug. 19, Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Linton American Legion Post #22 will conduct military graveside rites.

Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Sunday & at 9 A.M. Mon. until the hour of the service.
