OBITUARY-
Stella Wambeam, 88, of Austin, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Blooming Prairie.
She was born Aug. 31, 1914, to Ross and Effie (Tummore) Eckert near Otranto, Iowa.
On Oct. 8, 1932, she married Russell L. Wambeam. The couple farmed in Iowa until moving to Austin in 1940. They eventually bought a farm near Austin. They had four children.
Stella became a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in 1951. She belonged to a neighborhood group, a project group and made ceramics.
Russell died in 1991 after 59 years of marriage. Stella then moved into Austin where she lived until November of 2000 when she moved to Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie.
She loved cooking, baking, canning and crocheting.
Survivors include children, Dr. Russell (Margaret) Wambeam, Jr., Laramie, Wyo.; Rodger (Judy) Wambeam, Austin; Alcienne (Charles) Madison, Maple Grove; Dellene (Steve) Schwart, Austin; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Lillian Johnson, St. Ansgar, Iowa; brother, Jason Eckert, Sr., Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; brothers, Clarence, Shirley and Bill; sisters, Valyda and Ruth.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at the funeral home and Saturday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roberta Flood officiating.
Interment: Woodbury Cemetery, rural Lyle.
Funeral Home: Worlein Funeral Home, Austin.
