Paul Boyd Kapp of 512 W. Nittany Ave., State College, died in the Parkwest Manor Nursing Home, State College, Monday at 7:15 p.m.

Professor emertius of engineering mechanics at the University, he was a practicing architect for more that 40 years. He designed many commercial buildings and schools in State College and throughout Central Pennsylvania.

In the Allen St. and College Ave. section of State College, he designed the Leitzell building, Fromm building Schlow building, Smith building, West Penn Power building and Montgomery building.....

He joined the Penn State faculty as an instructor of engineering mechanics in 1920, the year he received a BS degree in architectural engineering from Penn State. He continued on the faculty for 37 years, until his retirement in 1957.

He was born Feb. 5, 1898 in Birmingham, the son of David F. and Melissa Little Kapp. On Sept 3, 1921, he was married to the former Irene Roth, who survives with two sons, Robert P. of Memphis, Tenn., and Dr. David F. of Dubuque, Iowa. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of the BPOE 1600 and the F. and A.M. Lodge 700, both of State College. He was a member of the Williamsport Consistory and was a member and past president of the Rotary Club of State College.

He was a member of Sigma Phi Sigma social fraternity, Scarab honorary architectural fraternity, and Sigma Tau, honorary engineering fraternity.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Koch funeral Home, State College, with the Rev. Bruce D. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
