Neva Prescott
1919 ~ 2013
Neva Prescott, age 93, passed away Thursday, August 15th, 2013 in Emmett, ID.
Neva was born November 24, 1919 to George and Louisa Buchanan in Teasdale Utah. She married Vance Prescott September 7, 1940.
They moved to Park City, UT where Vance worked in the Silver King Mine. In 1945 they moved to Letha, ID area where they ran an 80 acre farm owned by Vance's uncle. In 1950 Vance and Neva bought 40 acres on the Emmett bench where they lived for over 60 years.
Neva was a dedicated and beloved mother while working with Vance on the farm. During fruit harvest season she also worked in the packing sheds. Neva won many ribbons at the Gem County fair with her crocheted craft items and flowers. She enjoyed growing a garden that was always beautiful. Many people were heard to say "Weeds don't grow in the Prescott's garden". When harvest time arrived, many were blessed by the fresh vegetables.
Vance and Neva spent 27 years as snowbirds, traveling each winter to Quartzsite, Arizona. They spent time rock hunting and going to flea markets. They loved dancing and attending the Desert Music Jams where they both would sing and Vance would yodel. During the summer months they enjoyed traveling in their motor home and taking their grandchildren fishing in their boat.
After 72 years of marriage, Neva's eternal companion, Vance, passed away in March 2013.
She is survived by 2 of her 11 siblings: Hayle Buchanan of Ogden, Utah and Bernell Buchanan of Murray Utah; Children: Connie (Tom)) Mudd Nampa, Idaho; Elvin (Geri) Rexburg, Idaho; Jim (Peggy) Kennewick, Washington; Rhea (Gary) Pitman Vancouver, Washington; 29 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
