Lucy's father was James Monroe Allison. He served in Co. E, 211th PVI during the Civil War. He was killed in action a few days before the war's end on April 02, 1865 at the siege of Petersburg, Virginia. He is assumed, but not confirmed, to be buried at Poplar Grove National Cemetery.
