George, the first child of Albert and Lizzie, farmed about one mile north of his parents' farm at W& Lot 13, Con 12, West Wawanosh Township. His father, Albert, had bought this
farm in 1938 and George, in turn, bought it in 1943. Tragedy struck George and his wife, Elsie, just five years after they were married. George was filling his tractor with gas and Elsie was holding the lantern when the gas fumes were ignited causing an explosion. Elsie was severely burnt and died. George remarried two years later but he had poor health caused by diabetes and died of a heart attack at the age of 41. George had two girls to his first wife and a boy to his second. Agnes, George's second wife, a nurse from Calgary, remarried Jack Ritchie and they farmed at Lot 11, Con 13 Ashfield Township.
