WILLIAMSTOWN - Wallace E. Athey, 77, of Williamstown, passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 28, 2010) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 19, 1933, in Williamstown, a son of Everett Albert and Mary Gertrude McKibben Athey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and had worked in construction.

He married Willa June Greathouse, who survives with one son and one daughter, Gregory (Michelle Stevens) Athey of Whipple and Kathy (Shane) Bishop of Williamstown; stepson, Terry Greathouse of Marietta; and grandson, Gregory Eugene Athey, who was raised in the home. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (Oct. 1) at 11 a.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Chad Mugrage officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.
