GENEVIEVE ANDREWS died at her home following a long battle with cancer. She was 65. A celebration of life was held Oct. 13 at the Juneau Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with the Rev. Richard Gay officiating. Her ashes were placed in the family plot on Whidbey Island in Washington state. Mrs. Andrews was born to Henry and Elinor Dorst. She was a 1948 graduate of Quilyute High School in Forks, and later attended both Washington State University and the University of Washington. She married Rupert Andrews in 1951, and until 1958 she worked to put him through college. In 1959, she and her family moved to Alaska, settling first in Palmer. Over time, they lived in Fairbanks, Sitka and Anchorage before finally choosing to live in Juneau in 1969. For much of the following three decades, she was active in many civic organizations, including the League of Women Voters, Juneau World Affairs and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. "Gen was a constant source of love and support to her family and many friends," said her family. Mrs. Andrews is survived by her husband of 46 years, Rupert; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Joyce, Clyde and Katherine, all of Juneau, and Scot and Kathy of Redmond, Ore.; grandchildren, B.J., Nikki, Brandon, Nick, and Keith, all of Juneau, and Ryan Andrews of Redmond; and brother, Allan Dorst of Port Angeles, Wash.
