Martha Heflin, wife of Abner Heflin of Co. C, 10th Kansas Infantry, received a Civil War widow's pension 20 Aug 1892. An invalid's pension had been granted earlier.
Abner Heflin is shown in a 1962 survey of veterans buried in Coffey County in the Strawn Cemetery. His age-at-death is listed as 54 years, 29 days. His service in Co. C, 10th Kansas Infantry is also noted. It is possible that Abner Heflin is buried in a different cemetery at or near Strawn and that this grave was relocated in the 1960s.
Martha Heflin remained in Coffey County where she is listed in the 1930 California Township census with family. Ancestry.com family trees list Martha's maiden name as Lanter and her death in Coffey County, Kansas. She was a daughter of John & Mariah Lanter, who are buried in Anderson County, Kansas.
