George W. Boone
Dies at New Albany---Former Resident of this County.
George W. Boone, son of Craven and Sarah Boone, was born March 16, 1837 near Laconia, Ind., and died at his home, 1318 East Spring Street, New Albany, Ind., March 29, 1911, of paralysis, after an illness of nearly nine months. He bore his affliction without a murmur.
He was a member of a large family of children who grew to manhood and womanhood, noted for their high standing of sobriety, honesty, and patriotism. He was born and reared on a farm and grew to maturity surrounded by such influences as are calculated to develop sturdy manhood.
On August 18, 1862, he answered his country's call and enlisted in Co. E., 81st Regiment of Indiana Volunteers. He enlisted as a private and took part in every march, skirmish, and battle in which his regiment was engaged, and was mustered out at the close of the war on June 13, 1865, a First Lieutenant.
On January 14, 1869, he was united in marriage to Venevia N. Inman. To them were born five children, four sons, Frank T., Nevaston W., Charles T. and Claude N., and one daughter, Mrs. John E. McClaren, all of whom survive him and were with him until the last, and with loving hands administered unto all his wants. He is also survived by his wife, two brothers and three sisters, Nevil Boone of Carlisle, Ind., Craven Boone of Laconia, Ind, Mrs. Mary Hoby, Mrs. Emma Hudson, of Louisville, KY., and Mrs. Horace Boone, of Laconia, Ind.
In December 1894 he united with the Presbyterian church at Laconia, Ind., under the ministry of the Rev. Tyrrell. He lived for more than his three score years and ten an exemplary life, and when the end came he entered into a peaceful life.
The funeral services were held in New Albany last Thursday afternoon and on Friday the remains were brought to Corydon and laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery. A brief funeral service was conducted at the grave by Rev. L. C. Jeffrey, of New Albany.
