Charlotte M. Blair, age 85 of Fairborn, passed away Sunday August 11, 2013. She was born November 3, 1927 in Fairfield, Ohio, the daughter of the late Brown Atkin and Bertha Mae (Simmons) Atchley. Charlotte was employed as a personnel staffing specialist in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after 31 years of service. She was a longtime member of Fairborn United Methodist Church, serving with the United Methodist Women and as secretary of the Ruth Guild for many years. She was also a member of the Fairborn Senior Citizens, NARFE Chapter 610, and the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lew in 2005. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Fran Greene of Alexandria, VA; a grandson, Brian (Christina) Greene of Dublin, OH; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Miriam Jeannette "Ann" Arthur of Denver, CO; and a nephew, Jay (Shirley) Arthur of Denver, CO. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Mercer, Barbara Van Horn, Gail Olt, Nancy and Julie Harris, Paul and Debbie Wood, and many other friends for the many kind things they did for Charlotte. The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 14, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A private graveside service will be held in the Byron Cemetery, Pastor Meghan Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society –or- Fairborn United Methodist Church.
