James died in Michigan on August 14, 1951. And had lived most of his adult life in Barnesboro with his wife Theresa Edelblute McKillop.
James and Theresa were married on the 3rd of May 1892 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania at the residence of Minister Lemnel L. Logan

Together James and Theresa were the parents of 9 children James, Erma, Blanche, Donald, John, William, Beatrice "Betty", Calvin; and unknown child from 1900 U.S. Census.
At the time of his death, James was survived by these children: James C., Mrs. Erma Schrock, and Donald (all in the Detroit area); John of Bakerton; Mrs. Betty Kilber of Elred; and Calvin of Hazel Park, Michigan.
He was also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and the following siblings: Alex and Mrs. Laura Neuburger - both of Wilkinsburg; Frank of Hastings; and John of Massillon Ohio.
Services were held at Long's Funeral Home.
Internment was at North Barnesboro Cemtery.
