Ray Lynn Barnes was born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, on June 16, 1963, to Thelbert and Wanda (McAllister) Barnes. He passed away on August 11, 2013, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, Ray grew up in the Moody area. He attended Lowery School through the 8th grade, then Tahlequah High School graduating in 1981. On May 29, 1982, he married Kathy Jarrell in Peggs, OK. Ray had worked as a pipeliner and loved working on "The Place", rodeos, and bull riding. He loved kids and was a Youth Camp Sponsor where he had a positive impact on many lives. Ray loved Jesus and was a member of the Exciting Southeast Baptist Church in Pryor. He loved his family and had a special relationship with his granddaughter, Grandpa was her hero. Ray is predeceased by his son Derek, grandmother Christine Barnes Conrad, uncle Pete Barnes, and brother-in-law Timothy Chance.
