He was a native and lifelong resident of Pierce County. He was a retired farmer and self-employed long distance truck driver for Cason Transport Company. He was also a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.
He is the son of the late Quitman Lemuel Cason and Etha Bennett Cason. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Sweat, Doris Sweat, Mildred Bennett, Cecil Cason, Raymond Cason and Jerry Cason.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda C. Cason of Blackshear; two daughters, Carmen Bennett Cannon (husband Barry) of Waycross, and Linda Cason Beck (husband Alan) of Brunswick; one son, Wayne Cason (wife Cathy) of Waycross; four grandchildren, Chris Bennett (wife Thea), Chad Bennett, Jennifer Walker and Joseph Walker; three great grandchildren, Vincent, Felicity and Lillian; sister-in-law, Carolyn Taylor of Waycross; brother-in-law, Jim Storey (wife Carolyn) of Live Oak, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held Monday (August 12, 2013) at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Music Funeral Home.
