S/O Denzil F. and Edith (Burgett) Bromwell in Plains. He attended the Plains school system, graduating from Plains High School in 1940. He joined the U.S. Navy in January 1941. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor and served aboard the U.S.S. Maryland BB46 and was in eight battles in the South Pacific. He worked for City Service Oil Company, retiring in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jack Bromwell; one grandson, Jake; and one brother, Denn Bromwell.

"FRANK H BROMWELL

PLAINS — Frank H Bromwell, 84, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Dallas County Hospital in Fordyce, [Dallas Co], Ark. He was born April 17, 1921 to Denzil F. and Edith (Burget) Bromwell in Plains. He married Meryl B. Scheib Feb. 19, 1948 at Plains. She survives. Frank attended the Plains school system, graduating from Plains High School in 1940.

Frank joined the U.S. Navy in January 1941. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor, and served aboard the U.S.S. Maryland BB46 [battleship]; and was in eight battles in the South Pacific. He worked for City Service Oil Company, retiring in 1983.

Other survivors include four sons: Tom Bromwell and wife, Kay, Deerfield; Gary Bromwell, Plains; Richard Bromwell, Kansas City, Kan.; and Larry Bromwell, Hutchinson; one daughter, Denice Bromwell, Inman; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers: John Bromwell and wife, Phyllis, Liberal; Don Bromwell and wife, Frankie, Stephensville, [Erath Co], Texas; Mannley Bromwell and wife, Lucy, Plains; and one sister, Jessie Henry [McDermott], Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jack Bromwell; one grandson, Jake; and one brother, Denn Bromwell.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel in Meade with the Rev. Terry Mayhew presiding. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home."
