Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Tuesday, August 13, 2013, from the Walterboro Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1035 Dandridge Road, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Rice Patch Christian Church Cemetery, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton.
Born October 1, 1928, a native of Colleton County he was a son of the late Archie Daniel Crosby and the late Susan Annice Marchant Crosby. He was a retired heavy equipment operator from the South Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Walterboro Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Katherine Murdaugh Crosby. Burley was an avid hunter and fisherman. His love for horses marked him as the "world's last cowboy". One of his biggest joys was eating watermelon with his great grandkids. He loved life and to pick and joke with everybody.
As he rides off into the sunset, he leaves behind: his wife, Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Galloway Crosby; a son, Burley "Neal" Crosby, Jr. and his wife Alice of Cottageville; four daughters, Laura Ahl and her husband John of Walterboro, Kate Thompson of North Charleston, Joyce West and her husband Michael of Cottageville, and Debra Riley and her husband Billy of Adams Run; and one sister, Eunice Smoak of Ritter. There are eight grandchildren, Nisey (Ty), Bucky (Patty), Timmy (Lori), Scotty, Susan, Lane, Brandon (Ashley) and Jason (Summer) and six great grandchildren, Taco, Kaylia, Kennedie, Catelynn, Christopher, and Kynlee that also survive. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronnie Thompson.
