Anne Squires (nee Kalie), age 80, of Lorain, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at her residence.
Anne was born on August 17, 1929 in Monessen, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Monessen High School in 1947. Anne has been a resident of Lorain since 1956 moving here from Pennsylvania with her husband and children.
Mrs. Squires worked as a sales associate for May Co. and Jo-Ann Fabrics. She was a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program and was very involved in the Clearview School District.
She was a very active member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain since 1956. She was a member of the Rosary Society and devoted much of her time cooking in the kitchen.
She loved reading and gardening and spending time with her family, especially Sunday dinners.
Anne is survived by her husband of 60 years, Theodore; son, Daniel (Sherrie) Squires, of Amherst; daughters, Linda Squires, of Amherst and Mary Jane (Mark) Miller, of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Brooke and Stone Squires and Alexander and Zachary Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vasil and Barbara Kalie; brothers, John, Mike, Andy, Jim, Charles, George and Nicky Kalie; and her sister, Mary Kalie.
The Squires family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst , where a Parastas service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Panachida will be held on Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th. Street, Lorain. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
