Capt. William Hodges departed this life on Sunday, the 13th day of October, 1886, at the residence of his uncle Judge Asa Hodges, near the town of Marion, in Crittenden Co., Arkansas. His disease was paralysis. Capt. Hodges was born in this county. He was the son of Col. Fleming Hodges, once a resident and merchant in this place. And he was the grandson of Hon. William Hodges, at one time a popular and conspicuous member of our General Assembly. He leaves a widow and family to mourn their loss.

William enlisted with Co. C 11th Miss. Vols. He was transferred on Nov. 23, 1861 to Co. F 16th Reg. Ala. Vols. as Captain.
