TUPELO – Earl Gene Dean, 59, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his home in Tupelo. He was born May 6, 1954, in Union County to Verlean Ragland and James Pratt Dean. He worked at Tecumseh Manufacturing in Verona for many years. He was very active with "Feed the Children" and did volunteer work at The Salvation Army.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Temple Church of God in New Albany with Bishop Charles Farrell officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in New Albany. Agnew & Sons Funeral Home of Verona is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Jason M. Dean and Edward N. Dean, both of Tupelo; his mother, Verlean Ragland of New Albany; five brothers, Joe L. Edwards of Racine, Wis., James Dean, Richard Smith and Lee A. (Georgia) Smith, all of New Albany, and Jerry Dean of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Ruby (George) Godwin, Joyce M. White and Annie Jean Smith, all of New Albany; one grandson, Jayden M. Dean of Tupelo; his companion, Gwen Riley of Shannon; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Family and friends may sign the guest registry at www.agnewandsons.com.
