James Tsuneo “Sam” Okutsu of Koloa, died Aug. 14, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. Burial was Saturday, Aug. 27 at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Koloa; two children: Melvin of Kalaheo and Leyona of California; four sisters; Fuchan Tanaka, Michan Matsuura, Margie (Hank) Shinn, and Rachael (Chiaki) Akazawa; two brothers: Seiji Okutsu and Paul (Floy) Okutsu; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cozuchi and Otoshi, brother Yukio and three sisters, Sumiko, Gladys and Betty.
