Death Date: After 1870 Census and before 1880 Census.

Research indicates she was the daughter of John Howard and Rebecca Brittain (thought to be of Indian heritage). Elizabeth was born in Jefferson County, TN. While her birth year can only be estimated based on different census dates, her marriage to Levi Carter July 13, 1816 in Jefferson County suggests a 1798 date is appropiate.

Possible Indian heritage supported by lack of children's Tennessee marriage records, family move from Bledsoe County, TN in 1843, and DNA of great, great, grandson Bob Watson together suggests this is very likely. Possibly 25% Indian based on DNA test.

While no record of her death date or location has been located, we know (from the 1870 Census) in her later years she was living with son-in-law Thomas H. Watson and daughter Eliza Matilda (Carter) Watson in Maries County, MO near Dixon. In 1860 she was living in Pulaski County, MO near Dixon with daughter Rachael Rollins wife of David Rollins.

Also, as it is likely her daughter Eliza Matilda Watson is buried next to Thomas H. Watson in Fairview Cemetery in an unmarked grave; we can only assume she is also buried in Fairview Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Daughter Rachael and son-in-law David Rollins are also buried in Fairview Cemetery.
