Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Port St. Lucie Chapel located at 7951 South US Highway One. A funeral service will begin at 1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at White City Cemetery.

Jacob John "Jake" Simpson, 37, carried his beaming smile unexpectedly, to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4th, 2013. He is survived by his devoted Mom Dorothy Simpson (the late Dave Evans) of Fort Pierce and loving Dad Roger Simpson (Marcelle) of London, KY. Also left behind include cherished daughter Dorothy "Dodie" Simpson and son Andrew Saunders of Port St Lucie; brothers David Simpson (Donna) of PSL, "Sammy" Simpson and Elizabeth Burns (Lucas) of London KY. Aunt Kaaren Koroly of PSL, Uncle Jeff Koroly (Suzanne) of Denton, TX, along with several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his loyal friends and countless IBEW brothers across the USA.

Born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, he moved with his parents and brother David to Port St. Lucie in late 1980 where he attended First Baptist School in Stuart; he was active in The Royal Rangers and youth group at Calvary Assembly of God in Port St. Lucie, FL. Jacob excelled at varsity wrestling and graduated with honors from PSL High School in 1994. During his senior year he trained extensively in preparation for the lengthy hike on the Appalachian Trail starting at it's Northern terminus, Mount Katadin, ME. He later returned to attend classes at Indian River Community College. Jacob had a natural talent for electric and learning; ultimately joining the Jonesboro Arkansas Chapter of International Brotherhood of Electric Workers. He traveled in the union throughout his career for a number of years before returning to Florida where he remained a member in good standing with IBEW local 728 in West Palm Beach. He specialized in energy production and enjoyed attaining electrical welder status at the Hutchinson Island Nuclear Power Plant.

Over the years, Jake enjoyed many hobbies, including surfing, skateboarding, and building remote controlled cars. He was an accomplished fisherman and avid motor sport enthusiast.

An immeasurable void will be felt by all who loved him.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Yates Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie Chapel. A Celebration of Jacob's life will begin at 1 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at White City Cemetery.
